- Study Analytics & Progress: Flashcard repetition intervals (SM-2 ratings: Easy, Good, Hard), practice quiz diagnostic scores, and user preferences (e.g., dark mode toggle).
- Log Files & Device Information: Standard server logs including IP addresses, browser types, Internet Service Providers (ISPs), date/time stamps, referring/exit pages, and click counts to analyze trends and prevent DDoS abuse.

No AI Model Training on Private Data: Your private course uploads and notes are strictly isolated and are never used to train public generative foundational models.
All data in transit is encrypted using modern TLS 1.3 cryptographic protocols. All stored user documents are encrypted at rest in Google Cloud Firestore using enterprise AES-256 encryption.
4. GDPR & CCPA User Data Rights
Regardless of your jurisdiction, we guarantee every student the following statutory rights:
- Right to Access: You can request a complete copy of all personal records and uploaded files held in our systems.
- Right to Rectification: You can update inaccurate profile details directly inside the app settings.
- Right to Erasure ('Right to be Forgotten'): You can delete any notebook, study deck, or your entire account at any time. When deleted, all underlying vector embeddings are purged permanently from our database.
- Right to Data Portability: Export your flashcard decks and quiz questions as standard JSON or CSV files at any time.
5. Children’s Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
Protecting the safety of children online is a top priority. AI Study Buddy does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13.
